I wrote This is a difficult email to send. after a cooperative that I had volunteered with announced that it was shutting its doors. The title is a quote from the final email of the cooperative’s directors. In this piece, electronic and live sound, as well as video, come together to convey a sense of inevitability- that which cannot be avoided. This sense of inevitability was part of the frustration that I felt when the cooperative closed after an immense effort from the community to save it. Timothy Schoen provided invaluable assistance with the programming for this piece. Sol Enae Lee contributed the animation and design.
